Here I am at another Sport event just a week after shooting the Olympics. , , aka the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the legitimate question is...what's next?
And the answer came in the shape of the unbelievable Wanda Diamond League ATHLETISSIMA meeting in Lausanne. Couldn't be any more greatful to have pack my gears less than 20 days after the Tokyo 2020 Closing Ceremony. What a great meeting in Lausanne with almost 13,000 spectators in a stadium roaring for a line up made no less than 18 FRESHLY crowned Olympic Champions!!!!!!
An action pack night with the likes of Yulimar Rojas achieving the second best performance of all times in the Triple Jump (15.52m), Jakob Ingebrigstsen winning the 3000m in 7.33:06, Olympic vice champion Chris Nilsen winning the Pole Vault with 5.82m ahead of his US compatriot Sam Kendricks, and Tokyo bronze medalist Femke Bol winning the 400m hurdles.
The day before Ilya Ivanyuk won his 3rd Wanda Diamond League title in a competition that saw the croud cheering for the Italian Olympic Champion Gianmarco Tamberi.
But back at La Pontaise, how not to be enthusiastic at the 100m Women which saw Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce stunning us by clocking the 3rd best performance of all time DESPITE the cold weather in a supersonic 10"60. She finished ahead of compatriot Elaine Thompson-Herah at 10"64. The future looks brighter than diamond for Athletics and surely these two are in contention to become World Record holders any time soon!!!
